     @trochee @hipsterelectron @aud @cthos We need to affirm the shortcuts we have to reject bullshit. You don't fact-check it. You treat it as automatically invalid by provenance: the identities or lack thereof of the people promoting it.

     Incompetent liberal centrism treats this as a logical fallacy. It's not. It's fundamental to how you deal with asymmetry.

     autistic nitpicking follows, not disagreeing with the main point: it is logically unsound (ad hominem), whether or not it's a useful heuristic. heuristics can be wrong, so using them means you may at times end up throwing the baby out along with the bath water, but they're useful precisely because on average you get more out of them than what you lose.
