autistic nitpicking follows, not disagreeing with the main point: it is logically unsound (ad hominem), whether or not it's a useful heuristic. heuristics can be wrong, so using them means you may at times end up throwing the baby out along with the bath water, but they're useful precisely because on average you get more out of them than what you lose.
