This wifejak stuff is great. Marriage mostly consists of circular arguments, like me always demanding my husband affirm what I asked, him being annoyed by that & retorting "I HEARD YOU!"

Then yesterday him saying, "our house is so loud... you need to make sure I affirm what you say..."🙄😆

  My wife and I are rarely more than a few feet apart. I work from home most days and we've been this way since we met. We even shower together.
  
  We have entirely different interests though. She likes to sew and paint. I like to play music and with computers. So while we're rarely apart, we're not codependent.
  
  But yeah. If you're into the same stuff as your spouse, it's kinda gay.
  
  Nonetheless, I have no need to get away. The noises and thoughts in my head are vacation enough for me.

  Wow. Very cool for you guys. My husband is gone no less than 40 hrs, sometimes 48, 2+ times weekly... then he runs all over hell half the time he IS home (not bars, just projects, or friends/family). I was basically his first serious relationship at 25, so alone was his MO. My mom always tells me she'd have been scared to stay alone as much me, but I was an afterthought kid way behind my sibs, & I kinda prefer it, too.
  
  We're aiming to change things, but we have no clue how to be together more than 24-36 hrs anymore😆

  I've just had a few serious relationships (over 3 yrs each) & only one of them consisted of lots of time together. I liked it, but he was a literal only child, & also had distant parents. We'd argue even mildly & he wouldn't speak to me for a week or more. Ouch. So, yeah, I just don't do in-your-face anymore, I guess. Those couples are cute, though.

  @Humpleupagus @GoyGirl My wife and I have only been apart for more than 12 hours 2 times in 16 1/2 years. We even worked together at a company for a year. We have different interests as well. I try to do things she enjoys sometimes for variety and to make her happy, but I mostly have my own hobbies. We spend our weekends together. I don't really go out with people more than once a month or so. It works. Not really sure how, but we've gotten along all this time and enjoy the time we do spend engaged in the same activities.

  One of hub's best friends/co-workers & his wife live separately, too, about 30 mi. apart, & he's only shy of 40, her 35.

  It has been good to read this thread. a therapy thread.. and that's what i love about this instance.
  
  i have been tempted to talk about my wife, to bitch and moan, but no. we have lived separately for a year at a time, long boring story there. she is all up-to-date on her clot shots, although i have told her about them. she voted democrat (I used to vote democrat, but they've gone insane) ... in short we disagree on almost everything.
  we are way too old for sex. that was fun with my first wife (now deceased), another long boring story there. my daughter lives in another state and never calls.
  
  in short, it's way too late for me to break in another one, and i have no idea where to find a better soulmate...

  😩 Lol... oh, man, my youngest boy will likely do all that, but oldest has the Nordic "honesty" trait (it's a thing... saw studies on it). He can't lie if life depends on it.   I would not have wanted to live apart at age 40.
  
  She was caring for her mother (who passed in June '23 at 101), and I was keeping the dog pack here in Jollyville. How it got to be like that is complicated. With the plandemic managers demolishing elder care, it was impossible to find a place to put her mother. So it was home care, with my wife supervising. I took breaks from the dogs now and then, and drove to Mississippi for a visit. At this point, I have changed both types of diaper. The infant type were a hell of a lot easier.

  We actually had the old lady in hospice care at one point. The hospice stopped all medication, blood pressure, stimulants, sedatives, antacids, I can't recall how many pills the nurses were giving her.
  
  She got better.
  
  Hospice kicked her out, and we had to take her home.
