@Humpleupagus I just looked it up. You can have one allegedly as long as you can't shoot metal projectiles with it.

I wanted to get my son one for Christmas.

I still remember when I got one as a kid. I bought it myself at K-Mart and it came with a belt carrier and metal pellets.... no questions asked.

@Humpleupagus @LudditeMan California's Penal Code Section 12550 is legal to own a slingshot as long as certain guidelines are followed. These guidelines include:

The slingshot must not be capable of shooting metallic projectiles.
The slingshot must not be used to shoot at people, animals, or property.

No officer troglodyte, that buckshot is for my reloading bench. Works great in my sling shot too!

@Humpleupagus @Sweetie_Squad_Liquidator @LudditeMan not being able to shoot at "property" is even more restrictive. What are you supposed to shoot at, pre-industrial common lands?

@Humpleupagus @LudditeMan I use lead in my shotgun reloads, it hits harder then stainless, flies farther then stainless and doesn't wear out the choke of the gun. Fuck the environment, besides where does lead come from? The fucking ground!

Lead in metal form tends to just remain a chunk of lead. It doesn't "leech into the water" or shit like that. Just keep it away from acids, like saliva and stomach acid, and it's fine.

The "lead" that causes problems is when you do dumb stuff like keep vinegar in lead pitchers or make paint out of lead compounds. Then you get those lead compounds getting into stuff.

Why the hell do wood barrels have lead? Are they just talking about the trace amounts of naturally occurring lead that's in nearly everything?
