     @vriska @maija I just remembered I did go to a bar with girls in bunny costumes like the old playboy clubs, you go there and pay a cover fee and pay more for the drinks but the attractive young women serving you drinks are skilled at conversation and listening to you and making you feel like a king.

     @vriska @maija I think I know what you mean though a maid seems so contrived of a scenario that you can't mentally justify it. I personally would not do it because I am in my 40s and it seems like 100x more pathetic. I can't explain why making girls dress like sexy playboy bunny outfit and sell me whiskey in a fancy glass isn't as bad but like it evokes 1960s mature sexism or something.

     @maija @vriska the outfit is only a little revealing and it's not presented lewdly. but I see your point about innocence. I am wondering though if the bunny outfit being more up front actually makes it easier to justify.

     @sun @vriska id assume maids feel more innocent in a way while bunny outfits is just classic perversion no suspension of disbelief needed there. like i imagine maid cafes to require much more fantasy, while bunny outfits is just much more bluntly upfront lewd shit

     @vriska @maija I understand the and respect perspective of people that see the entire thing as a very artificial simulation of emotional interaction for the exchange of money. there are also layers of sexism in it. I don't see it that way but I think it's a reasonable way to view it.
     
     I suspect it comes down to individual interactions. Some people go in there for the novelty and its okay and some people go in there to get a little emotional fulfilllment and it's sad for them but it's not abusive. then there's probably people that go in there and intentionally or untintentionally try to make it go beyond a commercial relationship and put the girl in a position where she has to be creeped on to keep her job. I don't know.

     @sun @maija and I want to be clear and say I pass absolutely no judgement on the employees and most of the clients at places like this, I just cant even ask waiters at restaurants for favors without feeling guilty unless i tip loads
