     @d0c40r0 @kf01 I thought so. People mald over it when it really doesn't matter. If it exists, you should work on your soul and relationship with Christ (sanctification/theosis) so that you don't experience it. If it doesn't exiet, you shouldn't care that some people need the sword of Damocles to motivate them to do what God wants (a repentant and humble heart, grateful for redemption in Christ). Arguing about heterodoxy probably pushes more people away from faith because we do it wrong. I do it wrong all the time. I am a goofy goober redeemed by Christ.

     @Crux_Invictus @kf01 Theology as a dialect becomes very annoying because we share a tremendous amount of overlap as Christians, but have different slightly different definitions for things, probably done for theological reasons at one point or another as buttresses against heresy de jure or for clarification within our theological milieu. For example, we're likely in agreement on this point, but I don't know whether my post will be read through the lens of how you think 'Catholics' believe, how you think I believe, how Lutherans believe, or something else entirely. I don't think you're uncharitable, but it's something I've noticed more since consciously trying to hellthread religion less.

After being embarrassed by the lack of responses to scientific claims made during the later 20th century, there's been a bit of work around concepts like evaluating the validity of testing methods and looking for alternative hypothesis that don't require a Russell's teapot.

     @BowsacNoodle @kf01 Different Christians may use the same words but mean very different things, for example the Calvinist will use the term "real presence" when talking about the presence of Christ in Holy Communion but fundamentally their understanding of that presence is different to the Roman Catholic and Lutheran understanding. So there's a need for a certain amount of autism to ascertain what is meant.
     
     I tend to be more focused on these kinds of things because I'm serving a church that is Lutheran in name but has lost Lutheran theology because they've been misled by words that while they sound the same actually mean something very different when examined properly.
     
     I apologise that my theological autism has brought out the usual suspects to poast coal in the thread.

A lot of nature has predictable repeating patterns, so I could see cataclysm being another of those. If it exists it's from circumstance rather than metaphysical reasons imo— perhaps we get too big for our own britches and nature slaps us down.

     Have you ever seen the cyclical deviation of the North Pole trapped in rock formations at oceanic rifts? It appears that when magma solidifies, its crystalline structure orientates to a north south alignment.
     I wonder why that north south alignment switches direction every 12,600 years.
