     Most SNES games were written in assembly and programmed to make the best use of the system. They also used sprite and tile maps that fed the gpu instead of jpgs or other pre-formatted images.
     
     I used to have a Profighter X (game copier). There were only a few games that couldn't fit on a single 1.44mb floppy.

     Yeah. Games got big once the audio quality increased. R-Type on TG16-CD vs TG16... the only real difference is the audio.
