Exactly. A friend of mine pointed out to me, Trump is on the trajectory to get about as many votes as he did in 2020, maybe like a million or two more.
The Democrats, on the other hand, seem to be on the trajectory of getting nearly 10 million votes less than Biden did in the previous elections. You're not winning over Republicans, you're just losing Democrats.
Much more than a Republican win, this is a Democrat lose

I broke down the numbers across a few different threads. Here's one:

      https://hachyderm.io/@mekkaokereke/113351037260387408

Short version, Black men didn't go more towards Trump. Black men went waaaay to the left of Biden, to the point of sitting out the election out of disgust.

Everyone depends on Black men voters, but no one really listens to Black men voters, so this very clear dynamic was completely missed.

      @winterwind

      And what is the cause?
      The voters, or the party?

The party ran the best campaign ever against the worst campaign ever
      So where were the voters?

"to the point of sitting out the election out of disgust?"

      No.

"to the point of electing Trump by sitting out the election out of disgust."

      There. Fixed it.

And not just Black men. Stupid people.

Stupid people who will now see Trump give the green light to Netanyahu to bulldoze Gaza and "settle" the rest of the West Bank.

The Black men that chose to sit out, did so knowing full well that the people that will feel the harm most directly from this action, are them.

The 20 million Black men in the US experience more years of lost life expectancy to racism induced early death, and more years of lost freedom due to unjust incarceration, than anyone else. "Trump is worse!" They know. They don't care.

A system that expects 90% of Black men to vote for their abuser, is broken

It's easy to call them selfish for not taking one for the team, as we always expect Black folk to do. I mean, 90% of Black women, and almost 80% of Black men did the selfless thing?

It's harder to reflect on what actions we could have taken, to restore their trust in white Dem voters.

You can see from my interactions with some of these white Dem voters over the past year, why Black voters in general don't trust y'all. 🤷🏿♂️

What I find strange is that the same people that (rightly) called out Trump for his "Black jobs" statements then blithely talked about "Black voters" as if they were a homogeneous group.
