But she's also:

— denies institutional racism exists
— a militant transphobe who wants to strip transgender people of civil rights
— believes the British Empire was beneficial to its colonies
— opposes marriage equality
... She's the most right-wing leader the party's ever had.
(TLDR: She's the antithesis of Kamala Harris.)

@Illuminatus @bjn Exactly! With the added trust that there's now room at the top for women of colour as long as they're more racist than the average EDL member. (Badenoch probably thinks Tommy Robinson is a touchy-feely bleeding heart lefty liberal.)

@cstross Badenoch is dangerous. She has huge self-belief and little self-knowledge, and will use any pretext to start a culture war or jump on an existing culture war bandwagon. Her politics verge on fascism.

@cstross don't agree with that last line - Harris is still tied to the system of US policing, which is in no way progressive, and entirely unlikely to change her stance on Israeli occupation and violence (tho I'd love to be surprised).
America doesn't really have a functional Left, certainly not in Democratic leadership.
But yeah, Badenoch can get in the bin.
