Omega Variant (omega_variant@nicecrew.digital)'s status on Wednesday, 30-Oct-2024 06:33:37 JST Omega Variant So again, all extra-biblical nonsense.
Once for all not needing to be repeated. But that explanation also contradicts the word of that priest. Not that contradictions are uncommon in Catholicism. Or protestantism for that matter.
Catholics have tradition
Prots have "hearing the holy Spirit"
Both excuses to shoehorn ideas and practices not found in the Bible.-

The Bible couldn't exist without Christianity already existing (all events are past tense barring letters and prophecy, but even those are recorded after the letter was written or prophecy spoken). I believe it is perfectly sound to use the Bible as your only source of Christian guidance provides you have good exagesis, but I believe such things are extremely rarely paired together. That is explicitly not a condemnation of my Protestant brothers, but rather a recognition of the virtue of the pursuit and its challenges.
As for communion, you can look at the oldest texts and see evidence of what the early believers practiced and, to my knowledge, they believed in The Real Presence during communion. -

Doc (d0c40r0@nicecrew.digital)'s status on Wednesday, 30-Oct-2024 06:37:52 JST Doc I posted proof that's not what Catholics actually believe, just what some "progressive Catholic" from the 1800s said
I can do more digging if you'd like but I'm pretty positive on this oneBowserNoodle ☦️ likes this. -

Omega Variant (omega_variant@nicecrew.digital)'s status on Wednesday, 30-Oct-2024 06:37:53 JST Omega Variant I don't have a problem with communion at all, just the notion a priest thinks he can make Jesus bow to his whim and sacrifice him. BowserNoodle ☦️ likes this. -

That aside, it's rarely the believers that are at fault on any of these— we shouldn't be pissed at the sheep but the bad shepherds regardless of what Church they represent. -

Not exactly sure I trust his opinion on the matter, especially when it opposes what I've seen from the ChurchBowserNoodle ☦️ likes this. -

fireandforget (fireandforget@nicecrew.digital)'s status on Wednesday, 30-Oct-2024 06:47:34 JST fireandforget Yeah that's gotta be a fluke the congregation elders and deacons I knew would have looked sideways at something like that. Most descriptions of the Eucharist generally describe humility in the face of Christ's ultimate charity -

The reason Tridentine Mass and Divine Liturgy both are celebrated Ad Orientem is because we are all humbling ourselves to Christ with the priest simply the first among us.

Omega Variant (omega_variant@nicecrew.digital)'s status on Wednesday, 30-Oct-2024 07:04:24 JST Omega Variant Eh id say historically the Catholic Church has been the greatest of whores concerning that stuff. It's downfall and the rise of protestantism and the printing of the Bible was foretold in revelation.
But I digress, prots, especially nowadays have many issues. Pretty sure I've made my disdain for them clear numerous times before.BowserNoodle ☦️ likes this. -

Heresies constantly reappear (there are no new heresies, they just change form). Satan wasted no time trying to corrupt the Church. Even one of the 12 who walked and talked with Jesus and knew He was The Son of God fell to his lies. -

Omega Variant (omega_variant@nicecrew.digital)'s status on Wednesday, 30-Oct-2024 07:16:37 JST Omega Variant Mmmm the one who fell was never a believer to begin with, Jesus. Hose him knowing he was rotten, funny enough a Edomite.
The church has always been under attack, true. But once Rome consolidated it's power into the church and the beast was healed it began attacking its former brothers. It was no longer a Church but an antichrist beast.
🤷🏻
-The dragon was wounded into death (Rome)
-It was healed (birth of the RCC) and everyone marveled. -
