     @dielan Probably test few of them on a USB-key?
     I'd recommend KDE as a good default choice but I've barely used it myself.

     Go full Rust with the Redox kernel and Cosmic DE. Don't use anything if it has a Rust-based alternative

     @dielan @lanodan i use wayland it work fine for me on arch, didn't work well on debian year ago or so.

     @hj its been a while since i tried arch I might just do it. I have a home NAS now for my important files too so it's not like I will lose anything if I have to wipe

     @dielan I think the only part where wayland still needs to catchup & get it together is accessibility and input-methods.
     At least for games it should work nicely, even for stuff like VR (in fact XOrg is kind of wonky in this area).

     @dielan @lanodan if you have more than 1 screen and need different scaling, you can _only_ use wayland for this. X feels more stable to me, but I have no choice.

     @vaartis @dielan Yeah, XOrg is basically stuck to having scaling/frequency/colorimetry/… be all shared between monitors.
     
     (Or splitting the thing between different X servers but last time any app supported being moved across X servers was like 2 decades ago and it was very crash prone)
