@sickburnbro I have never been convinced that "this isn't a bad person, this is a person whose brain chemistry makes him inevitably do terrible things unless we physically or biochemically restrain him" is a useful argument. Not that it matters much as long as you're willing to physically or biochemically restrain him.
@yockeypuck But there are also people who like how they feel when they are out of control. Those are the sorts that first started causing the problems for liberalism as a general rule. They *might* be evil, or just unfixably fucked up.
We used to just go "eh, not my problem" and toss them in a mental hospital. You had some doctors that would try to cure them and bla bla, but then you got people who were DYING FOR FAIRNESS and thought it was UNFAIR that dangerous people that society couldn't fix were locked away.
@DEERBLOOD it's not even that; it's always "must choose between people, choose 'victim' ".
The idea that multiple people could be a fault is just impossible. Ok, sure MAYBE the cop could have not killed her.
But maybe people that are fucking nuts shouldn't be allowed to be in general society if they are going to try and stab someone who is authorized by the state to enforce laws.
@DEERBLOOD In terms of "fault of this situation" it's like 99.5% crazy black pyscho with knife and .5% cop that didn't realize that he was going to be dealing with that, step farther back and taze her.
@yockeypuck Someone that wasn't psychotic that just totally randomly lost their mind? Sure, because they went to stab someone they deserved being killed.
@DEERBLOOD No, we can say it's .1% the cop. And in fact letting it be like that allows you to catch people that are unable to say "hmm yes it is massively disproportionately the fault of this person"
The reason this is important is that is how standards of evidence works in courts of law. "Reasonable doubt" will say 'this is the fault of the crazy black bitch with the knife'
@sickburnbro Nah it's 100% on crazy black bitch. I hate cops too, but you don't get to open the door and slash at one. That just can't be allowed in a society
@BroDrillard@TrevorGoodchild@yockeypuck we have a lot of fucking arrogant undeserving children in this country. Everything is I deserve this, I deserve that.
I used to think when the bible says what you deserve for your sin is death was a bit extreme, but in retrospect, this is why it is said.
