@Terry @lethn @Marshall1Banana remember FEMA's stated 'top priority' is 'equitable disaster relief', which means they're jumping for joy right now at the thought of another major hurricane hitting a swing state where they can selectively help some (blue voters) and tell the rest (red voters) to fuck off and leave, or die.

@lethn @Marshall1Banana whats happening is Florida is flipping blue this November. In 2020 Trump barely won the state by 3 points. Now millions of White republicans will be without power or shelter and might not make it to the ballot box on election day.

Thanks for the context, in that case people should be information sharing like crazy to find out what's really going on

I'm British, so I obviously won't know anything about this compared to Americans but even if it was somebody I hated who was clearly trying to warn people I would pay attention to hurricane data especially over this kind of thing unless people know something I don't. I am aware that there's clearly another land grab situation going on depending on the area because I remember when wildfires were happening and that was utterly ghoulish behaviour from the politicians.
The closest things we have to this in the UK are stuff like floodings and people do take that shit seriously and it can get pretty bad depending on the area, that's usually a down south thing though.
It looks like things are quite fucked with these hurricanes from what's being posted up.

@lethn @Terry You need to understand that
1) this is Florida, and Florida people DO NOT like being told what to do and will explicitly do the opposite out of spite in many occasions unless it's someone they know
2) hurricanes and tropical storms like this are extremely common in that region so most people are ready for them (the big disaster stuff was in NC and TN, whereas FL had all its power back within a week).
3) the government and media in the US has a negative trust value, meaning you're better off immediately believing the opposite of what they say and act upon that belief, this extends into economics (see Cramers Rule)
