@jrod3737 @stux That browser appears to just be chromium on windows and safari webkit on ios - sure they wrote a custom GUI, but what actually does the rendering is existing web engines.

For me it's Emacs Web Wowser, or lynx, or w3m or netsurf or wget.

I would totally use a browser you made from scratch. Right now the only option on Windows and iOS is DuckDuckGo. They’re still using the OS native rendering engine but everything else is from the ground up.

So it seems that #Firefox went ahead and just re-enabled these terrible settings

That's 1 strike for the fox.. One more and it's out

Maybe i should build my own browser and not made of Chromium crap (no offense)

@Zergling_man @jrod3737 @stux You run; `wget -qO- <page>` and then the read the HTML that's dumped to stdout, or you can even pipe it to GNU less; `wget -qO- <page> | less`

@Suiseiseki @stux @jrod3737 wget can't parse html as far as I know, so I would argue it's not a web *browser*, just a web client.

@Zergling_man The --recursive flag does the browsing part for you automatically.

@Suiseiseki @stux @jrod3737 Yeah you can, and with basically all of the parts of the web that matter, that's fine, but it is still not a web browser.

But if Mozilla spends all its money on software development, then who's going to do all that questionable political activism that nobody asked for? :blobcat-sad:

Dirty Little secret most people don't know is that most web browsers are either written by Google (via chromium), or substantially supported by funding from Google to keep the search engine as Google.

One of the immediate outcomes of the recent antitrust suit against Google for this practice is therefore going to be that many web browsers are scrambling for new sources of revenue.

But I will say, when you realize just how much revenue Firefox has been earning, it seems like they should be more than capable of maintaining a web browser and email client forever based on money they should have in the bank...
