@tj ok found the referenced study. And proves nothing. One study, that accounts for nothing else but pot, really means nothing. Obviously consuming ANY chemicals as a cild with affect brain development. But that does not even almost prove that it kills brain cells. IQ points do not equate brain cell death. You said KILLS BRAIN CELLS. Zero mention of killing brain cells.

FortyTwo™ (fortytwo@noauthority.social)'s status on Tuesday, 01-Oct-2024 16:52:30 JST FortyTwo™ Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the major psychoactive component of marijuana, is toxic for hippocampal neurons. Treatment of cultured neurons or hippocampal slices with THC caused shrinkage of neuronal cell bodies and nuclei as well as genomic DNA strand breaks, hallmarks of neuronal apoptosis

Apoptosis, also known as, programmed cell death
So, yeah, marijuana kills brain cells...

Joel W (thetruthaddict@noauthority.social)'s status on Tuesday, 01-Oct-2024 16:52:31 JST Joel W @tj you said it kills brain cells. There is zero evidence it kills brain cells. Allegedly lowering IQ is not the same thing. And I am more than fine with not continuing this since you feel the need to make this personal. SO, have a good day and fuck you very much

TJ of the Side-Eye (tj@noauthority.social)'s status on Tuesday, 01-Oct-2024 16:52:32 JST TJ of the Side-Eye This summary references several studies demonstrating pot use by youngsters decreases IQ and increases risk of certain mental health issues.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9255894/
There are also plenty of studies that show both those risks are significantly reduced in adults (25+).
Apparently you believe that pot is such an unmitigated good that one can't even make a joke about a truth that reflects poorly on it. I'm not interested in pursuing this further with a zealot.

The Flynn Effect is real, but I don't buy the usual explanations. I suspect it's related to how the tests are created and calibrated in relation to changing demographics.
