Is there a way to "Open original page" or similar that takes my blocklists into account? (I usually have to open the original page because not all replies federate to my instance.)
@BeAware That not what I meant, sorry for writing it quite weirdly. What I mean is, is there a way for my server to fetch from the original server all posts that that other server knows of and then show them (and then of course blocklists are automatically used)?
PS. @michael, if you'd like me to stop tagging you whenever recommending your software, just let me know. I just do it in case they have questions, but I can see how it'd be annoying.😅
Actually just to clarify: you don’t need access to your instance’s CLI. Any machine that can run python will do. I know @paul runs it on his standard windows machine using Task scheduler. Even an Android device would do (though it’s complex to set up)
As such FediFetcher is completely compatible with hosted services like masto.host, and can even be used if you are just a plain old regular user, rather than the admin of your instance
@michael@paul@zvavybir 😳holy shit...I can run it on my windows PC independently of the instance and where its hosted?!? I need to do more digging when I have time. You just blew my mind.
@michael@paul@zvavybir Paul, ill get with you at a better time to discuss, if you don't mind. I'm not in a position to do it now, but since we're already connected, I'll ping you in a few days if I have any questions, if that's alright.👍
Actually, I completely forgot the arguably easiest and lowest tech way of running FediFetcher:
GitHub Actions. These require no hardware, no installation, and no CLI at all: it’s all point and click at GitHub. Full instructions can be found in the readme:
