@tadano@SuperSnekFriend@branman65 I like Branman. I just tend to think some Protestants take a very uncharitable interpretation of Catholic and Orthodox practices.
@doctorsex@tadano@SuperSnekFriend@branman65 I do actually get what you're saying, because I was brought up being told "Catholics aren't Christians and they're just like the Pharisees" etc. I have a good spiritual father who I've been able to ask questions on specific topics and get adequate explanations. Short answer is that a lot of "X is blasphemous" stuff comes from either gross misunderstanding, linguistic failings (look at how many words for love or the various things that get categorized as 'worship' in English vs Greek, Latin, etc), or bad practice from malformation (poorly formed Catholic adopting cult esque practices e.g. Santa Muerte). There are far fewer issues than what people think, and I don't see much of anything that a reasonable person can't accept as heterodox. Opinions will vary on that of course.
@BowsacNoodle@SuperSnekFriend@branman65@tadano So I'll give you the lore.....one day Branman came on post and said that hating niggers was unchristian and TND was wrong which started a hell thread obviously so I called him a nigger loving faggot and he blocked me simple as innit
@HarryNuggets@SuperSnekFriend@branman65@tadano I'm not a fan of killing people outside of necessity, so I would agree with him that TND is not acceptable Christian behavior. They can be deported to Africa instead which puts no blood on our hands.
But you have to understand that when some guy says, "hey, this thing that walks like a duck, talks like a duck, does every other thing that a duck does, and bears a striking resemblance to a duck? It's not really a duck, because we call it something else," it doesn't inspire confidence that the disconnect is just "linguistic" in nature. For instance, the whole "doula/hyperdoula" thing in particular has always struck me as a particularly semantic and legalistic way to say "no guys we don't actually worship Mary". Not to mention in church history, particularly the Catholic church, you have things like Trent, that if you were to hold today word by word, would be considered anathema.
@doctorsex@tadano@SuperSnekFriend@branman65@BowsacNoodle Protestants -> The Rosary is vain prayer that violates Jesus' teachings. And is not worship! ... proceeds to invoke The Our Father on a regular basis, and endlessly remix The Glory Be and The Apostles' Creed in all their worship songs.
Protestants -> Praying to the Saints is wrong! ... proceeds to ask everyone and their grandma to pray for them, and when God helps them, they thank and celebrate the people who prayed for them.
Protestants -> But! The Pope does bad things. ... the list of corrupt and evil protestant leadership is long and extensive.
These threads will never produce good fruit, because these matters are but re-arranging deck chairs on the sinking ship. It is vanity, and forces the participants to appear as hypocrites.
Jesus lives, He accepts us as we are, He loves us right now. How much better it is to enjoy Jesus today, than to correct every minor point of doctrine.
@compound@tadano@doctorsex@BowsacNoodle@branman65 >Matthew 7 >The target of Jesus' ire: We knew You Jesus! Let us in with all the Hail Mary's, Masses, Toll Boxes in the Sky we did! >Jesus: Who are you? >You: SEE! You just proved my point that man's mere knowledge of Christ is all that is necessary. Whatever retard! Turn to Christ and live. :02_sip:
Great, I'm glad you concede the point. You'll be a lot happier if you can stop fussing about the speck in your brother's eye. These people here in the thread, they have their Salvation from Jesus same as you.
None are free from doctrinal error, nor from sin. We live by the grace of God, we rest upon Jesus' mercy. As Jesus overlooks our short comings, so too should we overlook the short comings of our brothers.
> Flee from this silliness And, so I shall! So long hellthread, the rest of my day shall be filled with joy!
Psalm 103: 10He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
11For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
12As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
P.S. I'll add that this is His heart towards us, and it fills me with great joy!
@compound@tadano@doctorsex@BowsacNoodle@branman65 >Second: John 17 "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?' And then will I declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.'" (Matt. 7:21-23) >By your own words My words? I am only showing God's standards through His Word. He is absolutely clear. If you believe a false gospel, you are cursed and are going to Hell. Rome and the Eastern churches damned themselves as corrupt anti-church institutions by damning the true Gospel at the Council of Trent and the Synod of Jerusalem (1672) respectively, and many adherents to both branches have inadvertently damned themselves by embracing those wicked councils.
Flee from this silliness and these false gospels you are defending.
@compound@tadano@doctorsex@BowsacNoodle@branman65 >If two men know Jesus, they both have eternal life. Satan and the demons know Jesus (Acts 19:15) and know God is one (James 2:19), therefore, Satan and the demons have eternal life, according to you. Good job! You broke Scripture and made it void.
>And, if one of the men also venerates Mary, he has not lost his eternal life. He who persists willingly in such a vile sin as idolatry does not posses eternal life. He must repent. "No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has either seen him or known him. Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous. Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God's seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God." (1 Jn. 3:6-9 ) "But as for the...idolaters...their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death." (Rev. 21:8)
>The Galatians had discounted the saving Grace The Judiaziers, not the Galatians per se, wanted those poor Galatian Christians to earn God's favor, thus justification and salvation through obedience to the ceremonial law ("Did you [Galatians] receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith?"). But at least, for being hell-bound heretics, the Judaizers respected the Law, like the law of circumcision. Rome wants you to earn justification through man-given traditions and ceremonies that are against both the Gospel and the Law, an evil system that does not even save you from the fierce fires of Purgatory, another man-created falsehood.
Stop worshiping the mommy milkers of the false demon bitch you falsely call Mary, daughter of Heli, mother of Jesus; stop following literal, child-fucking sodomites you falsely call priests; stop sharing a false gospel; and turn to the real Christ.
@SuperSnekFriend@tadano@doctorsex@branman65@BowsacNoodle > Satan and the demons know Jesus (Acts 19:15) and know God is one (James 2:19), therefore, Satan and the demons have eternal life, according to you. Good job! You broke Scripture and made it void.
Sir, you aren't mocking me, but Jesus.
Second: John 17 3Now this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.
By your own words, you fail the standard you set for the Catholics and Orthodox. You think you condemn them to hell, but you only condemn yourself.
And, if one of the men also venerates Mary, he has not lost his eternal life.
The Galatians had discounted the saving Grace of Jesus' sacrifice. And, became concerned with minor matters of doctrine, thinking that these small things could cancel out Jesus' finished work.
You quote Paul, but assert a similar false Gospel, just as he was warning against.
@compound@tadano@doctorsex@BowsacNoodle@branman65 >How much better it is to enjoy Jesus today, than to correct every minor point of doctrine. >Roman/Eastern-Protestant Divide >minor "Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven." (Matt. 5:19)
"I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel-- not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed." (Galatians 1:6-9)
" Little children, keep yourselves from idols." (1 Jn. 5:21)
@branman65@SuperSnekFriend@compound@doctorsex@tadano The RCC explicitly stated Protestants are fellow Christians and those born Protestant have no fault for it (only took them until Vatican 2 🥴). Most every Catholic I see on here is chill— there's not a lot of e-trad Fuentes types pretending they're better than Protestants. Perhaps you're more used to it from elsewhere, but it's not a POV I see regularly.
