@s173nc3r I'm not sure that bullet-resistant glass that you can see through would do much against a rifle round, although I guess it could deflect a bullet by a few cm - which could be enough for it to miss - in the case a clueless sniper is aiming for the head (as for a center mass shot, maybe it could slow down a bullet enough for body armor to slow it down enough to not make a lethal wound).

@SuperDicq He got shot in the ear - at just the right moment he decided to turn his head, so the bullet destined for his skull went through his ear instead.

If the sniper had aimed for center mass, he would be dead, as a bullet would have either gone through the side of his vest (most bullet-resistant vests have no armor at the side - training for the usage of such vests have a focus at keeping the vest pointed at the attacker), or likely punched through the vest (light bullet-resistant vests won't stop a rifle round, although some have metal or ceramic plates incorporated that have a good chance of stopping one if it hits the plate).

@Suiseiseki@freesoftwareextremist.com Still, America definitely has a gun problem.

@SuperDicq The issue doesn't appear to be guns, as guns by themselves are a harmless piece of metal - someone needs to load a round, aim it and fire it for them to be deadly.

If I remember correctly, a number of countries with similar amounts of firearms per capital don't have the same problems.

If I remember correctly, the biggest issue is suicide (due to availability seemingly caused by poor storage practices), followed by gang violence, followed by other kinds of homicide and school shootings, while they are a large problem, are not a leading cause of death (of course there are many idiots who take a loaded firearm into a school and negligently discharge into the ground or into the air and all of those incidents are counted in the tally).

@wvlith I don't believe his ear healed - but that kind of hole isn't too hard to visually fix with plastic surgery.
