     I think it's unrealistic and unhealthy to think that men and women should stay virgins until they are ready to marry. (bad) teenage relationships and (bad) sex teaches important life lessons. teenage relationship drama allows us to value the really important things like love and trust later in life.
     
     people who have not dated into their 20s have a way harder time finding a partner, since their tools for finding one are insufficiently honed.

     @kaia Let's keep this practical. It should be considered impossible to avoid having sex with the 'wrong' person. It can take several partners before the 'right' person is found. You've made a poor assumption of where I stand on this. The original post is about sleeping with 22 men in a single night, which is a deliberate choice. Dating in this context is irrelevant.
     
     Also, you've attempted to minimise my earlier argument by saying 'other people' yet they are not in the room to state their case. While I believe that was unintentional, I would suggest avoiding the use of extremes as the basis for your counterpoints.

     You should always overshoot the goal. Since we know sex is a strong and dangerous drive, putting a high bar on its use is necessary, because many people will fall short. If the bar is lowered, as you suggest, then people will fall even lower. Ideals must be high even of reality fails to always meet them.

     I'm not one to clutch pearls. I think sex is central to a successful, fulfilling relationship — I have a lot of it tbh — but sex without intimacy is perhaps the lowest state of being. With it and it may be one of the highest states, but you really can't have intimacy without monogamy.
     
     I say this as a man who has been with the same woman for over 20 years and faithfully so.

     I think part of it is that parents really don't teach kids about having relationships at the right times and in the right ways.
     
     A major part of it is just demonstrating a loving relationship daily. The divorce rate doesn't help this.
     
     School on the otherhand just teach kids where they can stick things. Originally the theory was that "they were going to have sex and we want it to be safe when they do." The result was more degeneracy. 😒

Monogamy is a practice, virtues are the building blocks. Not putting this forth as a preferred option, but well practiced and principled polygamy is more healthy than bad sex, bad experiences way of finding oneself.
