     I usually use Linux, but for my daw, I use window. I've been working on mirroring the machine for two days now. Every vst has to be separately installed, and there are multiple prompts / windows for each.
     
     Also samba and ntfs is slow af when copying over a network.
     
     I did install wsl to use rsync, but it's sketch when going from ntfs to ntfs. Ntfs to ext4 seems to work though.

     Most issues that can occur on linux are well documented and solutions can be found.
     
     Windows documentation is like.... have you tried rebooting? If that doesn't work maybe do a clean install.

     It's a windows issue. It's the result of legacy design going back to windows 3.0.

     My backup file servers is ext4. My windows backup is a tiny fraction.
     
     I only use rsync with respect to ntfs to ntfs for a small thumb drive that contains core files. That's why I noticed the issue.
     
     DFS is rather heavy handed for simple syncs tbh.
