     For us it's the heat. They stop putting out fruit when it starts staying around 80 at night

I really want to wall mount hydroponics for tomatoes in my kitchen, but I'm not sure if the sun lamps will be too harmful to the kids eyes or other passive UV dangers.

     i talked to some people they said their tomatoes been slow
     but im gonna get a harvest i guess.

     What kind of indoor lamps do you use. I am really thinking about an air condition shop at night that I could grow a few tomatoes in

     @Jonaschuzzlewit @SuperSnekFriend @UnityOstara @branman65 @givenup I don't have hydroponics setup yet. Waiting for fall to try it. Lamps will be LED. I have an LED plant tube light from Walmart that I can mount with height adjustments, but I'm thinking that will only be enough for two or three at most. It'll get indirect light from the windows as well. For the base I'm going to use PVC gutters. I'll run PEX for the loop, which should keep the water clean, and a USB powered pump should be enough for the water movement.

     @Jonaschuzzlewit @SuperSnekFriend @UnityOstara @branman65 @givenup I'm sure there's better things to use, but I'm just feeling things out. Darkness helps to mitigate algae growth. A lot of people use a large black plastic container or rain barrel or fish tank painted black. It's sort of like how a Keurig or fishtank will grow algae in the tank it if it has sunlight near it. Soil would be easier, I'm sure, but less chance of mess if I mount it high and use hydro (I'm probably very wrong). Certainly less space.

     That's brilliant. I didn't realize dark tubing helped. I would appreciate it if you wanted to post me on the setup as you do it.
     
     The heat here prevents a good garden and I really want a tomato vine or two but I would need to cool it at night a few hours so dirt is not convenient but I especially am interested in lighting that would work.
     
     Last time I tried many moons ago I used hps and mh lights but they generated so much heat and drew a lot of power so I gave up

     Our cats will make it imperative there is no dirt. They tend to put it to improper use. I had not considered it but makes sense
