Livestreaming people!
Do you want people on Mastodon to be able to follow your livestream and be notified when you go live?
There's a free open source streaming platform called @owncast which is also part of the Fediverse:
You can follow OwnCast streams from Mastodon, and a post will appear in your timeline when they go live.
For example you can follow music accounts like @live or tech & gaming streamers like @Hamish or @hatnix

If you look at the posts they make, they'll just be livestream links, and if you click open the livestream it will have the OwnCast logo in the top left corner.

@feditips how do I tell just by looking at an account if they are an owncast account?

It's one step at a time! Being able to be notified about going live is a pretty good start :)

@feditips @owncast @live @Hamish @hatnix yes, but you can't view it directly from mastodon. Also, replying to such a post doesn't make the reply into a chat message on the other side as far as I know, neither do chat messages appear as replies in your timeline after you replied to the thread. I find #owncast an awesome platform, but in my view it's only partially federated, as in I still have to go to the actual website to do most things, peertube doesn't have that issue for the most part.
