@mdione /ˈpeɪsti/ is the quality of being paste-like, but this restaurant would serve the British Isles filled dough dish called the /‘pæsti/.
(And agreed, I know enough French to know that although French orthography is a bit screwy, it’s got nothing on English.)

@inthehands I keep telling my friends that English is the most difficult language to learn, as you have to know how each word is pronounced, not even counting difference in pronounciation AND writing! Even French people are surprised when I tell them that reading French is easier.
As for Tasty Pasty, I pronounce them similalrly, aren't they?
