   Watched a vlog by someone (European, presumably) visiting Jalan Alor. He ordered a plate of mee goreng.

   Tourist: Only RM23! So cheap!
   Malaysians: HRRK 💀

   PS: No sane Malaysian will pay more than RM6 for a plate of mee goreng.

     @liztai haha, yeah, it would trigger me. Sadly, the days of RM6 meals are (effectively) gone. Can’t expect anything decent for less than RM7-8 nowadays. Usually my lunch meal is RM9 onwards without a drink now 😅

     @chungliwen nono i refuse to accept that reality. I shall hunt that rm6 plate of mee goreng forever ;D

     Luckily I don't like mee goreng cos my brain goes: Eh I can cook this at home why pay someone to do this

     @liztai During my travels in SEA, as an obvious westerner, whenever I saw food prices start to look like home, my alarm would kick in to overdrive as I looked for the most viable way out.

     English menus were the best cue. In KL, I would escape & find some wellpriced, comforting murtabak and teh tarik elsewhere.

     That said, KL confounds me. I like it a lot but I never puzzled it out. I can groove with George Town, Phnom Penh, Chaing Mai, Hanoi, etc. but not there. Don't know why.

     @liztai @chungliwen Still can get RM6 mee goreng away from the KL city center. I've found some recently at the poorer parts of Shah Alam.
