  Now that CDC has assumed control of hospital capacity data, we no longer have public access to facilities level data:

  This means that we no longer have ability to roll up facility-level capacity data to county-level choropleth, CDC having determined public only has a right to state-level data.

  Great Lakes—sole reporting region nine weeks ago—fell off map seven weeks ago.
  CDC—public health authority for United States—has map on their website that shows they don't have variant estimates for any region of the United States.
  State-level public health agencies have just stopped collecting sufficient data.

  Statistics, as always, are structural.
  If MGH can be in 16-month unprecedented crisis w/out ever topping 100% reported capacity, imagine degree of crisis in hospitals ≥100%.
  That said, HHS data didn't include ED patients awaiting inpatient beds—as of May, we don't even have HHS data.

This is teams of medical professionals that were there to care for patients, and then… weren’t. [Blue line drops from around 1,200 to around 900.] December 2021: Governor Baker mobilizes National Guard to help hospitals with Omicron. [Blue line jumps by about 100 for less than a month.] “For the past 16 months, the MGH ED has operated nearly every day in ‘Code Help’ or ‘Capacity Disaster’ status, which represents critical levels of ED crowding.” ~ Press Release, Jan. 19, 2024 “‘Code Help’ occurs when inpatient beds and monitored hallway stretchers are full,” states the press release. Yet weekly capacity level, per data reported to HHS by MGH never peaked above 96% after Dec 2022. Press release continues: “‘Capacity Disaster” is triggered when the ED is full, all hallway stretchers are being used and there are more than 45 inpatients boarding in the ED awaiting a hospital bed” Yet weekly average data reported to HHS never reflect this. [Note that all three lines continue jaggedly along same level now months past 16th month declaration of unprecedented capacity crisis. Nothing has changed since.]

  Seeing orange-yellow moderate respiratory illness in California (3x) and Arizona. Previously Florida, California (x2) and Arkansas. Santa Rosa was moderate both weeks.
  CDC adds two-week maximum to wastewater map.
  High in central Kansas gave way to high in central Illinois. Above-average sites were in Cali (San Francisco), Illinois, Oregon (3x), Kansas and Texas; then in Illinois (3x), Hawaii and Oregon.
