The far right is making big gains in France, Germany etc in the European elections

Scholz, Macron etc have moved so far to the right recently. It clearly hasn't paid off with their parties getting trounced in the European Elections. Wish Centrist & Social Democratic, Socialist Parties across Europe would not always feel the need to move so to the right

@Lylamehta Exactly. As Danny Dorling documented, the more the social democratic parties move away from the left, the more everyone to their right shifts further right. The purging of "leftists" from these parties makes the future bleak. We have to organise, and fast.

@MediaActivist ...afraid it's a tad late... there's no one on the left to speak of... have you seen their scores?!

@VeroniqueB99 @Lylamehta There's actually a majority. When I said "organise," I wasn't at all referring to party political "representative democracy" in the hierarchy of the state - you're right, the socialists have been scuppered and sabotaged everywhere eventually (usually by "liberal" "centrists," funnily enough). No, we have to organise as communities, and avoid expending energy in doomed "get out the vote" drives to choose a different captain on a sinking ship. We're running out of time.

@Pepperbike @Lylamehta True, but because it's shifted not by natural forces, but political forces - the UK's Labour Party is an excellent example of how agents of capitalism have spent years destroying and purging the populist left within their own party, even when it had all the hallmarks of an election-winning machine to transform the country. It's what capitalism does when in crisis: it relies on authoritarianism to survive.

@MediaActivist @Lylamehta the Overton window always seems to shift further to the right.

@MediaActivist @Lylamehta I think the same thing has been happening in the united states for years. This year keeps giving me a 2016 vibe.
