   So I listened to this and basically the kid used the IR to replay power commands for digital whiteboards.
   
   I did the exact same thing in high school in 1993 with...a programmable TV remote. It is fascinating to think that I could have made news for a silly prank.

     @sun I remember before those phones became widespread, people used to access service menus on TVs by soldering a transmitter to a headphone jack and playing back the WAV recording of needed command.

     @sun I was on the verge of being reported under the Computer Misuse Act for writing a Batch script that made use of the Messenger service on Windows XP. The service is disabled by default, ergo not unauthorised entry to any system. My punishment was remotely controlled computer access, and I still ended up banned while doing work relevant to the lesson (Web graphics).

     @sun wait till they find out you could do that IR shit with a PSP-1000 (and I did in high school). Like this is not new not that complicated. Though I guess I am just echoing the sentiment of this whole thread at this point.
