     @mcc I gave a talk ten years ago where the main point was "the AI apocalypse came and went years ago, corporations are AI that runs on humans and we just carry out their algorithms for them"

     @darius @c0dec0dec0de @cstross man, I need to dig up more of the notes from the stuff I wrote back in the late 90s/early aughts. It was never fully fleshed out, but the idea several collaborators and I anchored on at the time was an AI future in which “true AI” never happened, but probabalistic machines fed on huge quantities of human-authored material were convincing enough that civilization just started using them to deakill creative, assistive, and analysis work.

     @pseudonym @darius @c0dec0dec0de @cstross Hah. Yeah, it was… definitely a bad scene. The long-term arc we'd sketched out concluded with all broadcast media being a vector for gibbering madness. Click on an old radio, and an endless stream of tinny glossolalia pours out, etc.
