How I feel a reasonable world should work for people gaining lot of money :
    1) Define a money threshold ("enough"=>"to not work for a few years / decades" ; you could even define your stocks by years of not working to amp yourself up)
    2) Stack the money
    3) Quit immediately

The worst thing with these job interviews is that once you understand how they really work, you will get the job no matter what you say.

For my last job, I kid you not, it went like this:
Me: « I know you do not do remote work, but I want a full remote contract. Oh, and I only want to work 4 days a week. Of course I need a better salary than what I got at my previous job. By the way, this "Python" thing you work with, I never ever used it. »
      Them: « OK, you’re hired. »
(that was, obviously, for a job entitled "Python Software Engineer")

It is 100% about the ability to look like someone they would like to work with, and 0% about actual skills related to the job.

@Mikie1600 Yeah. Kinda feel like we ought to have "cynic teaching" about how to "lie and cheat" the selection system instead of that degrading "sell yourself" exercice. Feels like some ritual where if you reaaaally pray very hard and do everything right, the manager miiiight bless you with a job. And if you don't it's on you not submitting enough to the sickening song and dance (or worst : you get to internalize the "I'm worthless" thing. Great, just what we need when we're vulnerable.).

@otyugh I tried a job in agriculture, and I stopped after one week! XD
Yeah, we learned that we have to answer stupid questions on our personnality and be very careful at our behavior... And I am not a social person for beginning. -_-

@Mikie1600 I never once in my life won any job interview - even when I was overqualified 🥴

There is a lot of job where you don't have to face the interview thing tho.

You either have to create it yourself, have a friend in one or another thing "they need someone of trust for X", or... Well there is also the half-time job in agriculture but they're hard on the body and pretty boring (took me 4 month of work over 2y to get bored but - now I am !)

@otyugh Thanks. But for that, I need to find a job...😭 I had a "job interview" training, and it just got me discouraged...

@otyugh It's true... The social pression is really heavy on people who do not work, or not work enough for the others.
Staying late to workplace is seen by certains like a sucsess, even if it's just a waste of time.

And I hear often these sentences like "worthless" in my head, yeah. ^^' My family told me sometimes things like that... And it’s hard to contradict them every time, with little support.

@Mikie1600 I think what's prevalent is the shame of "not planing to work if you could" ; lot of people internal value is about how much they're "hard at it" and "how much they gain" in the mainstream population.

If you don't you're "wasting your life", "being a leech", "worthless", "stupid", "lazy", etc.

I only recently found it in me to talk about my entourage about how chill my days were and how little I make. I used for a long time my "startup" front as a way to hide it out of shame tbh x)

@otyugh Yes it's what most people dream to do, but people gaining lot of money just want more and more money, endlessy. And don't care what it means for others, or even maybe enjoy crush the ohers.

I did not even want the job, I did that interview only so I could keep my unemployment benefits for a little while longer…

I ended up working for them two full years before they fired me ;)

@vv221 @otyugh @Mikie1600 I feel like lying is a thing I'd rather avoid in an interview, to avoid ending up with a job you'd actually just rather not be in, or them actually not wanting you (although that last one is a bit less problematic).

To me it is a bit easier, because there is not really any job I would really want to be in. I already have enough work on my plate to keep me busy for years without having to work for the profits of someone else.

The only motivation I have when looking for a job is the money. And since I know I have a bunch of liars (the prospective employer and their minions) in front of me, I have no problem with using the same kind of schemes they do.

In an imaginary world where jobs would be opened based on their social utility instead of the amount of money they can generate, my behaviour would be very different.

      @vv221 @Mikie1600 @otyugh Yeah, I can entirely see that.
Although for jobs where it's entirely for the money, so far I'd rather just not be there and look / ask around a bit more, because I'd rather not work for the things I won't want to do (would really have to be end of the roll for me to end up selling myself that bad).
Specially as a *lot* of corporations in tech are ones where then I'd end up working against them in my free time, and I'd really not want to do this.
