@EdBoatConnoisseur @deprecated_ii Brandon has a professional gunsmith as part of his staff. Precision metalworking isn't as easy or accessible as you're making it seem, and even hobby level tools are tremendously expensive compared to a 3d printer. Sure, 3d printed guns are kind of gimmicky, but when gimmicky lasts upwards of a thousand rounds and costs $5 to make and replace, gimmicky is making a pretty good showing. -

@Godcast @EdBoatConnoisseur @deprecated_ii indeed, I think it's easy to misunderstand the tolerances that something like a piece of black iron pipe from home depot and say a drive axle. -

@deprecated_ii There's some really excellent work that comes out of the 3d printed gun people, especially considering what they have to work with. But the pretense of "arming people" is absurd. -

@Godcast @deprecated_ii honestly a lot of the effort of the 3d printing guns could be better spent figuring out how to assemble a full auto AK platform rifle on your backyard with off the shelf steel tubing, springs and iron/steel casting for the bolt.
"but how well would the U channel profile hold for an AK? that is precision stamped steel and the stamp pattern and rivets reinforce the reciever"
brandon herrera, a mexican, figured out how to use steel U channel on the AK-50, a gun that at first was theorized impossible to made with a stamped reciever. -
