   You know as a kid, I never really thought of Mario being a plumber growing up, I only learned that by watching flash cartoons and parodies.
   
   I always thought Mario was a Tax Collector before that

     @anonicus one time my best friend and I were visiting his in-laws and late at night he wakes me up because he clogged their toilet and it was overflowing and he needed help. I helped him unclog it and he called us the super mario brothers

     @anonicus I never got the tax collector vibe from Mario, but given how many coins he's grabbed over the years, it fits... interestingly, he actually wasn't a plumber originally - all the way back in arcade Donkey Kong, he was apparently supposed to be a carpenter. The whole plumber thing didn't really kick off until the Mario Bros. arcade game (and even then, it was more for flavor than anything else).
