     how many people visit that project as a non-developer to download the program that was developed
     
     how many developers use the website at fucking all and don't just download the code through the command line
     
     once you have these questions answered, you will release that whatever braindead retard designed the website layout designed it to appeal to people that do not fucking exist and in doing so destroyed its usability for the people that DO exist. that is what we call "a terrible website layout"

     @JohnYoungE @teknomunk @Rasterman turns out putting "releases" in small text off in a corner is nowhere near as intuitive as putting "download" in large text front and center. every single time i don't download off github for a few months it takes me like 3-4 minutes and a few uses of ctrl+f to figure out what the hell i'm supposed to click to download. awful website layout

     Well, it’s a developer site. It’s more for source control than binary release distribution. A lot of projects don’t even provide binaries.

     But, admittedly, people unfamiliar with github etc probably would not suspect that -- it's only intuitive for ... um ... smelly nerds.

     I do understand the sentiment, though. The projects should have a public facing website with a giant "DOWNLOAD" button smack in the middle of the page.
