Before MusKKKrat came in and blew up the API's, I had an app called BetterTweetDeck which was a fork of the TweetDeck extension, which also allowed you to nuke a comment or even the entire conversation.
We could use something like that here.

Twitter had the option to hide replies to a post but then they also unfortunately gave a way to click through and see all the hidden replies so people jokingly referred to it as a way to see all the best dunks on someone
See, now I've had an offensive reply to my Signal post and it annoys me @Mastodon that while I can block this person their post will forever be stuck to my post and I can't shield anyone who looks at my post from seeing their offensive words. There has to be a better block system.
