Oh my god are we going to have to sit in public glass boxes or film ourselves writing to prove it was us.

A country story in two photos...

This t-shirt could have been a toot.

Oh yes!! MISTY BURGESS elected!
Heard she is the first ever trans woman elected to a UK council!?

In Southampton for the Greens!

@aral It's just so weird to be told by the UK authorities that I am - as a peace protestor who wants an end to genocide -a problem who should be banned. Meanwhile their allies celebrate war and mass death with blanket bombing, illegal death penalties and cakes with nooses on them.

People marching for peace are really not the extremists in this scenario.

We had 500,000 people march against the far right in London today ✊

Getting things on track with my new second hand laptop :)

Installing Linux: This weird (for me) task that I do every five years and then completely forget all about how to do it.

Following detailed instructions for unusual sequences that must be done precisely in the order set out by the light of the snow moon otherwise the enemy will not be vanquished....

The spell worked!

Hurrah! 🧙♀️

Well this is not good - Windows is back?!

What went wrong?

I never had this before. Any links to a simple fix it guide would be appreciated (I can't find one that explains it).

Do I start again? Why has the windows demon not been banished after all?

Update: Thank you all, I have a solid plan now! ⭐

Hmmmm can I outsource this tech question to the Fediverse..?

The hinge on my Lenovo laptop has broken and can't be easily repaired so I need a new laptop.

I will install Ubuntu onto it and wondered if anyone wanted to recommend a suitable and *inexpensive* replacement laptop from e.g. Curry's in the UK?

So much choice and I don't know what to pick. 14 inch screen and light is good. #Linux Thanks in advance!

London tonight - 2,000 people outside Downing Street tell prime minister Starmer to condemn Trump's war crimes in Venezuela.

Thread: 1

Am I connected to anyone here who specialises professionally in political graphic design?

Posters, logos, campaign materials?

Thank you all so much - this is really useful, kind and impressive solidarity work.

Trusted activists are ensuring the fediverse remains a safe haven for people trying to survive genocide.

"We’ve personally had video conversations on Signal with the people from Gaza whose Mastodon accounts on the fediverse are listed below and we verify that their accounts are genuine.

Beyond that, we’re in touch with them daily and trying to help them raise funds to stay alive."

As a journalist on the Fediverse with a Ghost site and newsletter, I don't need the adoption option, but I'd LOVE IT if more people signed up to my free newsletter.

Being niche and not being a mega Ghost success story like 404 or Molly W (both of whom I think are great) I can't really say that avoiding the big social media channels is a great plan for reach, but I do it anyway because it's what I believe in.

I wrote about the importance of Resistance, drawing strength from the past, meeting Steve McQueen and having an essay in his new book 🌹
