     @WashedOutGundamPilot @sickburnbro It's a good precaution but at 70mph on an urban street you probably aren't going to see it until you're in the middle of the road. Maybe you'll hear it ahead of time but not have any idea if it's on the street you're crossing or elsewhere.

     @sickburnbro Yet people will make fun of you for actually looking deeply at traffic before crossing the street. I can't tell you how many times I've been told "haha hurry up! You don't have to stop and look everytime, cars LEGALLY have to let us through"

     @birdulon @sickburnbro Maybe not but this one's a fringe case. Looking for a good full second before entering a street is minimum, and most normies think THAT is paranoid. Notice that they don't have a concept of "defensive driving" for pedestrians, just nagging about how "unsafe" cars are designed. Zero agency or accountability for their own safety.

     @birdulon @skylar @sickburnbro I feel like I heard about one of the boomers in town, his fam sold off a ton of land and it became suburbs. He was positioned poorly, so phone-drivers would crash through his mailbox and wall doing 55 mph on the 2-lane. After a couple times he up-armored it to withstand it, and got convinced to take it down because his legal guy thought it would open him up to manslaughter charges or something?
