     @RustyCrab @Pawlicker @condret they are getting super fixated on the supposed "tech is neutral" viewpoint of the Kagi founder and then saying they are going to go back to Google/Microsoft. Even if you despise Eich's stance from years ago, that is irrelevant now except for signaling (which is what they are doing) or as a personal moral choice. Many of these people are undoubtedly supporting politicians that actively blocked gay marriage at that same time, a greater morally consequential action than making a donation. Microsoft/Google have their own past behavior to be reckoned with. Current Microsoft/Google have moral consequences. If you do the math maybe you don't stick with Kagi but you don't go back to MS/Goog either. DDG incorporates Bing results which is functionally the same thing they are complaining about with Kagi/Brave.

     @Pawlicker @condret yeah what exactly is the proper response for that "get fucked troon"? He just stated they were focused on product quality and using every index they could and brave is a good addition.
     
     I HOPE he knows that if he backs down on this it will be blood in the water and they'll start trying to dismantle everything else. I'm sure they'll go after their standing with stripe at some point too.

     @RustyCrab @Moon @condret As someone who knows too much about the group I screencapped (they left it public lol), there are actually Google and MS employees (namely from the shithub buyout) who use the group to seethe about people they don't like.
     
     I'm sure this group is one of the reasons why I cannot get a job in big tech ever, but it's not like I want to. I'd rather have fun writing a game for a platform nobody cares about or federated autism nowadays over getting bought out and killed by GloboHomoTech Corp Inc.

     Do you want to know how much it "radicalized" me as an unemployable 20 year old? It made me realize there's no point in trying to work my way up the fake and gay "get a job dude just do this cert shit" when these troons get jobs doing nothing but probably resetting the server once in a while.

     I couldn't get a WAL-MART JOB because of those stupid quizzes while these pieces of shit were getting Google jobs by having a pulse. Do you know how demoralizing it is, when you can't get a wal-mart job, and it's clear your parents literally do not have any serious plans for your future other than babbling about some bullshit they read about online? While these people are out there getting Google jobs? I don't think words can express just how I felt or why I chose to drop out and sit in DIscord calls.
     
     And then those Discord calls turned to shit and "nerd crack" became popular. I can't even talk to the people I used to 6 years ago, because they no longer exist as I remember them and neither do the communities. They chose VR gooning and looking for enablers online.

     My only tech job was the year from hell powered by adderall at the server plant from hell, and it was great given it might have fucked my hearing up. I was spending the last month or two applying at places and being ghosted. I keep telling myself I'll learn programming but what I really mean is deal with clingy parents who won't admit I'm not 15 anymore once a month throwing my belongings all over my house and sitting zoned out on adderall withdrawl.
     
     I hope the boomers who can't wait to die off or think it's not their problem have to live a last 10 years of their own creation.

     @Pawlicker @Awoo @Moon @condret my last boss, who was a former big tech manager, had a lot to say about places like google and Microsoft. There's a microscopically small group of people who are working on the heavy hitters that make all their money and everyone else is effectively a dead weight codemonkey whose work phases between states of mattering a little and not mattering at all.
     
     That kind of environment is what allows 80% of their work force to be dead weight diversity hires and they still come out fine. Small businesses cannot afford to do that.
