There's a microscopically small group of people who are working on the heavy hitters that make all their money and everyone else is effectively a dead weight codemonkey whose work phases between states of mattering a little and not mattering at all.

That kind of environment is what allows 80% of their work force to be dead weight diversity hires and they still come out fine. Small businesses cannot afford to do that.
