     The federal government will just step in to save the day unless they want this to escalate for the elections. But I can't see how that would benefit them unless they could swing the "it's too dangerous to go outside due to the peaceful migrants" aspect. But that's unrealistic.

     @matty Thats probably what will happen, but that won't be helpful for long. It will encourage even more of them to come, and it will seriously distort local economies; we don't have enough goods so you'll get invaders buying up everything then reselling them as higher prices.
