   And the original purpose of the electoral college was to make sure that individual states' electors would count in proportion to their population -- & slaves counted for 3/5ths of a person at the time, and imprisoned people COUNT TOWARDS EC VOTES to this day

   Also, low-population rural (mostly white) states are overrepresented bc each state gets minimum 3 EC votes, so Wyoming voters are effectively worth more in the presidential race

     Oh it's absolutely racist.

     The net effect of the electoral college is that it reduces the democratic power of young Black voters and people that live near young Black voters (AKA, people that live in cities), and increases the power of those that need it least: older, richer, whiter people (AKA, people that live in sparsely populated rural areas).

     Racism as in "The design of this system disadvantages Black people." Not racist as in "The N-word."
