@skylar The only two women I've ever know who legitimately knew how to cook were my mother and grandmother. My sisters are probably both God fucking awful at it.
I just don't get it. I threw together an exceptionally good stew with seasonings, spices, and outdated dogshit I have laying about my kitchen on pure flavor intuition.
For some reason it's so bad now that I imagine having a gf involves me taking over the kitchen when the fire alarms inevitably start going off.

@skylar @Eiswald Main Stove has to be Gas or Fire :-)
BBQ can replace stove also !

@charliebrownau @Eiswald why not the fucking stove! is my hypothetical girlfailure wife too retarded?
it'd be like less than 3 meals before i run out of pallets to burn and then we're on to scraps of treated lumber and nobody wants that.
i will NEVER pay for delivery though, it's such a fucking scam

@charliebrownau @Eiswald oh well excuse the fuck out of me for cooking with appliances rather than building a campfire in the yard

@charliebrownau @skylar @Eiswald I hate cooking on electric stoves. Glass top sucks to use cast iron on and stainless steel sucks to cook anything sticky in. Aluminum pans don't hold enough heat to transfer properly until you learn the perfect balance of larger pan and larger burner than necessary and then the pans all warp anyway. Not to mention the Teflon. Instant Pot at least got it right with the big stainless pot that can't deform that's deep enough to brown your roast in before pressure cooking.

@skylar @BowsacNoodle @Eiswald @charliebrownau Until we both get cancer from the carcinogens in the teflon. Cast Iron is great, but the maintenance can be a pain. Reap what you sow.

@Will2Power @skylar @Eiswald @charliebrownau Yeah Teflon is super easy to cook on when it's new, but so many people ruin them and keep using them as the plastic flakes off into their food 🤢. It's like mechanical stuff where you don't use a steel screwdriver on delicate brass screws.

@BowsacNoodle @Eiswald @charliebrownau stainless and teflon are fine i've literally never had a problem with them
better than some dogshit pan that can't go in the dishwasher
cast iron should be sent to the scrapyard

@skylar @Eiswald @Will2Power @charliebrownau Wife used to use a fork to mix scrambled eggs in the pan on my really good nonstick skillet when we got married. 😞 At least she learned to not scrambled in the pan.

@CatLord @BowsacNoodle @skylar @Eiswald @charliebrownau I think literally eating the Iron from the cast iron is better than the Teflon, but sometimes I'm a lazy nigger.
-
Embed this notice
@Will2Power @CatLord @skylar @Eiswald @charliebrownau Of course it is. You don't eat the iron though. If anything flakes off it's just a layer of carbon from oil baked on. If you've ever seen the golden hue from clean engine oil spilled on a hot engine that's impossible to remove, that's basically the same thing as seasoned cast iron.

@skylar @Eiswald @Shadowbroker2135 @Will2Power @charliebrownau Consider why it would need to go in the dishwasher though. Scrape it and move on. It takes less time to clean it than people think.

@Will2Power @charliebrownau @Eiswald @Shadowbroker2135 @BowsacNoodle but what about in the dishwasher?
if it can’t go there then it’s essentially single use like a red solo cup

@Will2Power @skylar @BowsacNoodle @Eiswald @charliebrownau Modern cast iron can be used with dish soap and if you have a chainmail scrubber it's easy. I swear by cast iron. I only use non-stick for eggs and pancakes.

@skylar @Eiswald @Shadowbroker2135 @Will2Power @charliebrownau The next dishwasher I buy will be commercial. Waiting FOUR HOURS for your dishes to finish cleaning is a total scam. I think washing with a sponge and dish soap and sticking them in on a rinse only cycle would be a better use of time to cleanliness ratio, but that's just me.

@skylar @Eiswald @Shadowbroker2135 @Will2Power @charliebrownau You don't have to get everything off it though. Oil? Not my problem (pour down the drain). Spices or stuck food? Rinsed and scraped. Grease? Wipe with a rag and whatever doesn't easily come off with cement in place next time you use it. Having a properly seasoned pan helps a ton with the non stick aspect.

@skylar @BowsacNoodle @Eiswald @Shadowbroker2135 @Will2Power @charliebrownau Sometimes all you need to do is rinse and wipe dry a glass or plate and then put it away, don't always need to run everything in the dishwasher, though that depends on what you eat commonly. Same with a cast iron. Its quick to do clean, wipe it out, rinse and dry it off.

If you don't scramble it on there, cast iron is good enough for eggs.
At least my cast iron grill plate is after I've sanded it extra smooth.

@BowsacNoodle @charliebrownau @skylar @Eiswald induction is decent with cast iron.
But mine is a bit too small in diameter so the edges of the pan don't quite get as hot as I want.
