      @kaia @Moon @meso i think you sorta lost control of posts once you shotgunned them in to the wind :neocat_woozy:

      although this seems like it could be neat if it ran on a local embedding generator

      @Zerglingman @Moon yea i think i remember that multiplying the same number but with multiple powers is basically just adding the powers together, but i can't be assed to remember it on cue

      @lina @Moon That's just 10**9:
      >>> (10**3)*(10**3)*(10**3)
      1000000000
      >>> (10**10)**10
      10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

      There's nothing wrong with using self-hosted AI to index your own server, but some people don't want their shit fed into the Botnet.

      You can't actually stop it from happening without your knowledge, but you can express your displeasure.

      @Moon All these shitlibs love to rant about consent and ethics until it's time to shove data down the maw of their latest AI project, suddenly all that goes to the wayside as they scrape everything, even the paint off the walls, to feed it.

      @Shadowman311 incidentally SPC is working on something similar for local server search but using a completely self-hosted tool so data's not being handed over to anybody (and it's just to make the fucking search bar work not train a botnet.)

      @fleeky @Shadowman311 what do you mean link? do you want a writeup of how it's going to work?

      I'm using an existing unmerged pleroma fork. I just have to fix some data in my database that is broken for historical reasons, first.

      @Moon the correct solution is to have private group chats, but then "how are strangers going to see my funny posts and give me validation? I need their approval! I NEED FOLLOWERS! I NEED TO FEEL IMPORTANT AND INTERNET FAMOUS!!!!!!"

      @Moon I don't know if this guy is smarmy or just kinda dense, does he not realize that relying on AI summarization to "get the good stuff in 10 minutes" and "social media that works for me" is just as easily gamed like search engines, especially if you are like him and follow hashtags?

      I keep coming back to this SciFi novel I read 20 years ago called "Otherland", where nobody actually reads news and instead just lets their personal software "agents" (a pretty good accidental approximation of where current AI tech is headed) give them the important stuff and sends them to go do research for more detailed info if necessary. It's really neat and nifty, because it's fiction and the fiction conveniently omits the fact that a world that has agents that sift the news, there will be also agents that prep the news for the sifters so nobody gets to actually bypass the propaganda and the advertising.

      I mean, good for the early adopters, enjoy the moment I guess, I enjoyed having google as a sysadmin in the 2000s. It won't last.

      If you're willing to pay Kagi you can have that experience again. It's blissful

      Does Kagi support Monero and/or GNU Taler?
      I don't like the idea of my searches being linked to my payment info.
