Every time I play Hydro Thunder I'm taken back to a comfy world where I wasn't tormented by bullshit. It will always have a special place in my heart. I refuse to play the remake because I already know they ruined it.
I remember giving up Hydro Thunder on Dreamcast for Lent (my favorite game at the time) and then experiencing the greatest disappointment I had ever felt in my young life after discovering it had suffered a deep scratch on the disk that rendered it unplayable sometime over my religious hiatus. To this day I assume my dad must've played it at some point and just stayed quiet about it when he realized he ruined my favorite game.
The best timeline is the one where the Dreamcast didn't flop. Nearly all of the bullshit we've endured over the past couple decades has been the downstream consequences of Sega exiting the console market.
@Turdicus@AngryWraith At least 3 user created games are released for a game console that's been "dead," since 2001, people also still host private servers so they can play Phantasy Star Online.
That's pretty friggin amazing, console gaming today is gayer than Bill & kenboy.
@MelGibsonafter4Beers@AngryWraith@Turdicus There was something absolutely amazing about the original PSO. It wasn't even that great, gameplay-wise, but the whole atmosphere of it, the novelty, and just so much still stands out in my mind. Especially the cheesy "You are the hero !" screen at the end of a stage. Nothing that comes out today could ever match that feeling.
