   Just got notice from our REA that despite the fact they can't legally increase the rent for another six months, they plan on increasing our rent. By $160 a fucking week.

     @Sophistifunk Jesus that's absurd. I own a rental, and got an email from our realestate agent recommending we up the rent on one of our units from $320 to $400. I told them to bring it back down to $380 because that's too much.

     @Sophistifunk That's a lot. Here in Commie British Columbia the government imposes rent control, limiting how much a landlord can increase rent on existing tenants each year. After a pause of a year, over Covid, we were told we could increase rent by 3% this past year. Luckily our old tenants moved out and we were able to charge 200% more, in line with the current market and after we spent over $25K on renovatioins in that suite this summer. In short, you're getting the shaft, Sir Funk.

     @GettingCooked everything is fucked in Australia. I don't live in Melbourne any more (thank fuck) but the rents in Brisbane are off the chain, and only going to get worse as more cunts move here and people start figuring out they can fuck people even more for the olympics
