PS. A reminder that I spend 100% of my time writing free and open software.
@nuncio I wish I could get paid to do that too ;)
@aral I love that. I wish I could get paid to do that. I love doing software. It's really a hobby I get paid for. Isn't that what counts really?
@aral Thank you for your service!
@dan613 You’re welcome but no need to thank me, really, it’s a selfish act: I’m just trying my best to try and create the kind of world I myself want to live in. And that’s one that’s kinder and fairer to all, including me.
💕
@tchauhan This is the first link on DuckDuckGo when you search for “fossbro”:
@aral I want to know more about #fossbros. Any links to blogs, articles etc?
@aral thanks for sending me down the rabbit hole 🕳️ of #fossbro I had never heard of it before today (I'm not a developer though).
I love FOSS but I definitely think people like Stallman are way out of touch with regular people. I've even been told I shouldn't be using Linux because I'm not a software engineer by one of the developers at a previous job!

@aproposnix @aral indeed, software freedom must be about users, of all kinds, not just self appointed "high priests".
@benny @nuncio Initially, we did a round of crowdfunding (bad idea; not the way to fund ongoing development, lesson learned), then sold two apartments my family had in Turkey and we tried to supplement the income by selling a tracker blocker on Apple’s platforms (https://better.fyi). Now, Laura contracts with State.ly and I’m trying to get Domain (https://codeberg.org/domain/app) launched so we can have folks paying us to host their Small Web places. But it’s a struggle.
@aral @nuncio you're not getting paid for it but do it 100% of your time? How do you live?
@benny @nuncio (And we do have some lovely folks supporting us as patrons. It doesn’t come close to paying the rent but it’s really still nice to know at least some people care enough to support us financially.)
