While I personally stopped tweeting in May, it was clear that now was the time for Flipboard to stop tweeting as well.
This is a sad outcome given that Twitter was the platform we got started on in 2010 and I was a board member there with Jack, Ev and Dick. But that Twitter is gone now. And the future is the open social web.

@mike I applaud the decision. I, just today, deactivated my account with X. I urge you to consider closing the Flipboard account rather than simply going dormant by not posting.

@Leicaguy2 we thought about that but we are worried that our handle will be sold to a bad actor who could post hate speech, misinformation etc.
Also I think it’s helpful for people looking for us there at any point in the future to learn why we stopped and where to find us now.

@mike Just a bit of feedback on the podcast - really interesting, but strange opening. Could I suggest you ditch the strange anonymous introductory voice and do the intro yourself.
Also - perhaps introduce your guests with a sentence or two. Sorry, I didn't know who Mike Masnick is, or what the mysterious paper was that you suddenly started talking about. Tl;dr - introduce the topic and your guest :)

From the first BBS or Usegroup we've known that a great community needs care: moderation, animation and investment of passion.
Twitter HAD that. Now it doesn't.
It's become yet another cautionary tale of what happens when somebody thinks the strength of their own hype train can substitute for interested leadership.

@pallenberg I expect we will see something similar to what you've seen, Sascha. When we post we see 10-100X the engagement here compared to Twitter. The relationships are far more genuine and impactful.

Twitter used to be my most important platform... Well, that's what I thought at least. Since I left it my business actually thrived in a way I didn't expect.
