These are the stories that test my resolve.
I know why it's vital to preach mercy. I believe in the power of compassion, repentance & conversion. I want to be that man who always turn the other cheek.
... but part of me thinks she did nothing wrong.

Overheard among a group of tourists in Rome:
"I didn't lose my temper. I know EXACTLY where it is - In your face - Yelling... where it SHOULD be because you're an idiot!"
Data Points:
Federal Minimum Wage
1970 - $1.45
2023 - $7.25
Median Home Price (US)
1970 - $23k
2023 - $431k
In 1970, the down payment on a home (15% or $3,450) would take ~3,000 hours (after tax) or 1-1/2 years at FMW (40 hours a week).
In 2023, it would take ~10,790 FMW hours (after tax), or 5 years 3 months AND you'd never be able to afford the payments.

This is a good thing to remember when the older generations mock the younger for not building wealth as they did.
@mike Sad, but true.
From the first BBS or Usegroup we've known that a great community needs care: moderation, animation and investment of passion.
Twitter HAD that. Now it doesn't.
It's become yet another cautionary tale of what happens when somebody thinks the strength of their own hype train can substitute for interested leadership.

Dear Catholics,
Pope Francis told a transgendered individual "God loves you as you are".
He leads an institution committed to the promulgation of the good news about the absolute and unconditional love God has for His created.
If that confuses you, let's talk.
If that enrages you, why?
If that makes you think the Holy Father is rejecting the Church, that's on you.

Fun Fact:
When I watched Star Trek: The Next Generation during its original broadcast run, I viewed each episode on a salvaged black & white TV receiving analog OTA signal through balls of tinfoil attached to a makeshift arial.
It wasn't until I watched the remastered version on DVD that I realized the intro included a shot of the conference room behind the bridge. (Complete with somebody moving inside to give scale of the ship!)
The "Eagle Rescue" scene from "Lord of the Rings" always gets me because Gandalf brought THREE Eagles:
... One for Frodo
... One for Sam
... And one for Gollum!
The personification of good in Middle Earth doesn't give up on anybody... no matter what they've done. 😇
Well... I WAS going to go to dinner out tonight, but I guess I live HERE now. ?
Is it just me, or does it seem like Wells & BofA are paying out a few billion every 4-5 years b/c of predatory practices?
I mean, $3b SOUNDS like a lot, but if they make $100b from practices that will cost them $3b twice-a-decade, I don't see them changing their practices any time soon.
Right now, there are hundreds of millions of men who are Google Image searching b/c they have no idea if these mascots really look like a clitoris.

Hey tooters,
This instance is becoming a great community, not just for tech, but as a gathering place of ideas. Thank you!
Just FYI, this instance is supported by @leo, @Lisa & TWiT. It costs a lot to run these servers properly and they do it thanklessly.
IF you are so inclined & have the ability to, it would be great if you subscribed to Club TWiT.
It gets you a bunch of extras, including some ClubTWiT exclusives, & it's a great way to support this new community.?
