@General_Degenerate @YeetLibs A game that's like "Rogue," an ascii-based turn-based dungeon crawler with permadeath and random floor/item generation from 1980. Some fags are purists about it and demand nothing ever carrying over at all and always a fresh start and will claim that Japanese games like the Shiren series somehow don't count because you can sometimes get items save other items to carry over to next play even though the game's difficulty is balanced around this.

@gucciloafers @General_Degenerate @YeetLibs complete retards because every Shiren has pure roguelike no carry dungeons in the post game. The permacarry is to marry the Jap grind crafting autism with the classic gameplay and Shiren pulls it off better than any while still allowing you to play without it

@YeetLibs to be honest I don't really know what rogue-like means

@DrRyanSkelton @General_Degenerate @YeetLibs Yeah I agree and not very many developers have done much anything else remotely interesting or new with the genre other than autistic nips making these types of games with some slight differences. Another enjoyable "not pure" Japanese roguelike style game I played was Nightmare of Druaga and was kind of sad in the generation that game was released that the Dragon Quest Yangus game was never brought over, and neither was the 3rd Torneko game but I guess they're even more niche outside Japan .
