     @synapsid @Awoo @mikuphile @Elliptica @WashedOutGundamPilot While there were some minor things Trigger should have done and Trigger does have a lack of decent writing talent, DitF was a case where it wasn't Tirgger's story telling that caused problems. They were there mostly for animating episodes 1-15.
     
     It was Nishigori Atsushi and Hayashi Naotaka mismanaging the story after that messed everything up and not knowing they had a golden egg-laying goose in their lap (Hiro and Zero Two) they should not have killed.

     @Elliptica @WashedOutGundamPilot @Awoo @mikuphile Are you kidding me? The ending was "perfect"? Not even fan boys who simp for Naotaka Hayashi would say that. I don't have the energy, patience, or emotional fortitude to talk about this.
     There was no reason for VIRM to exist as an entity, narratively or thematically.

     What in the world? What show were you watching? When APE realized Dr Franxx betrayed them and that Dino-Hime woke up and would activate the planetary defense weapon, the two main dudes offed the other leaders, began their "Not at all anything like the Instrumentality Project and Third Impact, for real guys", sent the 9's to occupy Zero Two and Squad 13, and called the main VIRM fleet. There was no ebin /pol/-tier commentary.

     It was another case of Trigger needlessly adding a retarded "and then there were aliens" plot device to a series that didn't need it. At least in Gurren Lagaan it makes sense but I don't think Kill la Kill needed it, but since they only know how to write one plot over and over, it keeps coming out with nearly every series they have.

Also it was exactly that, the bad guys pretended to be fellow humans in order to pacify, control, and stop them from breeding with antinatalism. When their cover was blown, they literally did the "don't be a hateful bigot, diversity is your greatest strength".

     I let it go because I was playing Fallout NV at the time and was feeling very "let it ride", but I hated what they did with Hiro and Zero Two. The literal soul mates loophole is nonsense because their experience together is what made them in love in the first place. Reincarnating and meeting again, without those memories, doesn't give the new relationship the significance that the original had.
     
     Ship of Theseus spiritual continuation argument does not apply to love, not if they lost their memories.
