     Yeah I'm going to go ahead and say I would rather lose my password for some fake and unimportant digital auth service than touch a stranger's benis. I don't think that's a very controversial take. Don't do personal crap on your work computer and it will never be an issue.

     I'd go with Jeff "jerks off strangers" instead of Noodle "does not noodle strangers but does anything for money", thank you very much.

     Not saying you should noodle the strangers noodle, that's just a weird extreme example. But you should have some standard.

     Jeff has one (that is more narrow than mine own), and i respect that.

     @admitsWrongIfProven @marine @jbschirtzinger @NEETzsche @jeffcliff I acknowledged and give Jeff credit for his principles, but he makes statements that turn into a living strawman of his own position and a flanderization of his own self. To not use a company provided computer to make money because they use proprietary software is a very peculiar thing. If he can make it on his own, great! I'm simply reminding him that eventually he'll be out of money and, possibly out of a home and shelter from covid or other things. A compromise on one of these two positions will inevitably happen; either he begrudgingly accepts remote employment from the ever-shrinking supply even if it requires he use closed source programming, or he relaxes his attitude towards COVID. Unstoppable darkjeff force meets unmovable darkjeff opinion.

     No. I don't support doing things which are against my morals. I've changed careers before for that reason. I don't find proprietary software to be an immoral position.

     That is exactly what I am saying. How many more people can he scream into the void at about the dangers of COVID he hasn't died of exposure? Or to be less cynical, how much more could he do for open source and other things which I like if he's alive and not vagrant or whatever?

     @BowsacNoodle @marine @jbschirtzinger @NEETzsche @jeffcliff I'd say he is but a sidenote in this general struggle.

     There is useful stuff he could do, without compromising his values, and this heavily skewed "market" seems to prevent it.

     That is not just him. A lot of people could do great things and are held back by hostile work environments, inane requirements dreamt up by managers without object permanence.

     The problem here is not Jeffs specific high standard, it's society at large.

     I get some whiff of you trying to tell him "look out for yourself holistically", and if that is the case then it is very nice of you.

     But i guess some of us would rather die on this hill than get a few months worth of money.
