Truck door was frozen shut this morning. I tried to unfreeze it by pouring boiling water on it like an idiot and of course I spilled some on my fucking leg because i live in a cartoon. Waiting to slip on banana peel or an to anvil drop on my head.

@Turkleton Careful with hot water and frozen anything brother. That's a recipe for shattered glass.

@Evil_Bender @Leaflord @Turkleton Don't accidentally follow your rival off a cliff while running through the air, and if you do, don't look down.

Watch out for any crafty coyotes painting tunnels on walls also.

I was going to mention the whole hot water thing but bowsac beat me to it.
You can use luke warm water or ever just above freezing water and it will work almost as well without having to worry about the temperature differentials causing damage to stuff.

@Turkleton @BowsacNoodle Sometimes you just need shit to work physics and reality be damned.

@GabeLakmann @Griffith @Turkleton I've broken old pyrex taking it out of the hot dishwasher and hitting it with cold water. It sucks but even well made tempered glass will eventually fail. I've since learned to crank the water up to max temp and get it warm before I add any, then I turn it to cold as I start filling, dump and refill with proper filtered water to cook.

@GabeLakmann @Griffith @Turkleton Pipes are full of water already, so they should be fine. High specific heat and such. Pans that's not a bad idea. Very good to let them cool naturally if possible on the stove.

I do the same thing and I'll also crank the cold water when pouring boiling water down the drain so that it doesn't hurt the pipes just in case. Probably overkill but better safe than sorry.
Also do it with any metal pots/pans to prevent warping.

The u-pipes in them counter some of it but I still do it just to be safe and sometimes I'll boil sausages and then fry them in the same pan and in that case I'll use an electric kettle to boil water and then use the boiling water to rinse out the sausage water before using the pot/pan again. I do like to let them cool naturally sometimes but I try to clean up my messes before eating since I'm not as motivated to clean it after eating a nice meal and relaxing haha.

@Turkleton next time try spraying a mixture of water and isopropyl alcohol on it, usually works
